Rockford Park District’s Free Music in the Park Concerts Begin June 9 at Sinnissippi Park
Enjoy summer evenings at the Sinnissippi Park Music Shell for Rockford Park District's free Music in the Park concerts, which run Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., June 9 through August 13. These concerts are part of the Park District's Free Sounds of Summer Concert Series featuring local and regional talents who present shows encompassing a wide variety of styles and genres.
The Music in the Park season opens on June 9 with a concert by Rockford's musical ambassadors, the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps, 2008 World Champions, performing selections from their 2009 show. Music in the Park is presented by U.S. Cellular; co-sponsors include MembersAlliance Credit Union, and Klaas Financial, with assistance from the Illinois Arts Council, Rockford Area Arts Council, and other valued corporate partners.
Sounds of Summer – Free Outdoor Concerts and Entertainment All Summer Long!
In addition to Music in the Park, the Park District’s Free Sounds of Summer Concert Series offers a variety of free performances throughout the summer, including Imagination Station, which presents music, magic, comedy, and drama for young audiences Wednesdays, June 10-August 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the Sinnissippi Park Music Shell; Charlotte's Web, a three-concert Saturday evening series on June 27, July 11, and July 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Sinnissippi Music Shell, and Live at Levings, which includes the Levings Talent Contest and Concert on Sundays June 14 and 28, July 5 and 26, and August 9 from 2:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Levings Park, as well as Domingo en el Parque (Sunday in the Park), which features a talent contest, music, art, and culture of Rockford's Latino community on Sundays June 21, July 12, and August 2 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Levings Park.
