BEARINGS & BRUISES XTREME ACTION SPORTS EVENTS
Rockford Park District and FatWallet.com will host "Bearings & Bruises," an extreme sport competition, as part of the Park District’s 100th anniversary celebration.
From Friday, August 7 through Sunday, August 9, bikers, skateboarders, and bladers will have the opportunity to compete for prizes in each category at the event, which will be held at Flodin Boys & Girls Club in Rockford for skateboarders and inline skaters, and at Harlem Community Center Sports Complex in Loves Park for bikers. Competition will include beginner, intermediate, and advanced divisions. Each competitor will receive a t-shirt, and the top three finishers in each event will receive prizes and medals. Music provided by a DJ will be played throughout the competition. Event coordinator Tracy White brings his many years of experience and expertise to making this one of the best skating events in the area.
The custom-designed skatepark at Flodin Boys & Girls Club is designed to appeal to a wide range of riders’ styles and abilities – beginners to advanced bikers, bladers, and boarders are all welcome.
The fee to compete is $5.00. A signed waiver is required; for complete competition schedule and downloadable waiver, visit www.bearingsandbruises.com. Competitors can register on site the day of the event, and bring their signed waiver with them. This event is one of many events celebrating Rockford Park District’s 100-year anniversary in 2009.
