Summer Bog Art Show
at Volo Bog State Natural Area's International Bog Day Celebration

Over 20 artists stepped up to the challenge to capture the essence of bogs around the world in Volo Bog’s Second Annual Summer Bog Art Show. The show helps promote local artists while increasing awareness of the world’s unique bog ecosystems.

The works, which include paintings, photography and three-dimensional pieces, are available for sale through a silent auction. Ten percent of the proceeds will go to the Friends of Volo Bog. Viewing and bidding is open (during Visitor Center hours of Wednesday - Sunday from 9 am - 3 pm) through 1:00 p.m. Sunday, July 26. An artist's reception, to be held as part of Volo Bog's International Bog Day celebration, is scheduled for Sunday, July 26 from Noon - 1 p.m. with bidding closing at 1 p.m. Winners will then be announced throughout the afternoon between music and storytelling until 4 p.m.

Established in Scotland in 1989, International Bog Day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday every July. Volo Bog State Natural Area was the first to bring International Bog Day to the United States in 2008.
