Summer Hike in the Wetland - Prairie

These are some of the fun things the kids and I saw on our hike last night at Bartlett Nature Center:

Milkweed beginning to bloom
Cormorants (drying their wings in the sun)
Butterfly weed
Teeny tiny toad (half an inch)
Beaver swimming by their lodge
Queen Anne's Lace
Indigo pods
Sandhill Cranes
Osprey feeding their babies (via binoculars)
Barn swallow babies in their nests
Sunflowers
Purple and White Clover
Cattails
Garter snake
Deer tracks on the trail
Orb web spider webs
and much more...

The coolness of the evening air after a hot afternoon made it a beautiful evening.

Have fun hiking with your family!

Remember to bring: insect repellant, water, your camera and binoculars.
